This figure was a two year process. And by that I mean, I started working on this figure two years ago ... and then forgot about it until this year.

Back when I first started this figure, it was meant to be part of a Valentine's collection that didn't end up happen due to complications with a market. It was going to have all the usual tropes - reds and pinks with big beaming hearts.

Upon revisiting this figure, I found the Valentine's theme incredibly ... boring. So I thought I would instead dedicated to SOMETHING I loved, instead of just love itself.

I also wanted to experiment with a colour schemes that I haven't really used in the past. The vast majority of my figures have some kind of purple in it - and as much as I love purple, I wanted to challenge myself to NOT use it this time. And lately I have been obsessed with sky blue ... so I thought ... why not a Mexican sunrise on the beach with beautiful blues and yellows??

This cherub is also sitting atop a beautiful orb that originally was going to be painted in a marble effect. But I figured it would be the perfect canvas for a full scenery, something I also don't get the chance to do a lot.

I also wanted to show a lot of interesting detail as you turn the figure. Of course the goal with any three dimensional art is to make sure it looks good from all angles. But I really wanted this orb to surprise people as they turned it around. That's why the back is still a beautiful night sky, and as you turn it forward, it transitions to morning.
